Diagnostic audiometer with tympanometry

GeoAxon Kuduwave Ultra

Look at your audiometer. Now look at your tympanometer. Now imagine them both in one headset: diagnostic audiometry, tympanometry and acoustic reflexes - in one session, anywhere.

This isn’t an addition to your practice

It is the practice

Count the machines in your clinic: the audiometer in one corner, the standalone tympanometer in another. The space, the cost, the time spent moving patients between rooms and between appointments.

The Kuduwave Ultra fuses our high-frequency diagnostic audiometer with on-the-spot tympanometry and acoustic reflex measurements: a Type 1 clinical immittance instrument (IEC 60645-5) and a Type 1 clinical audiometer in one headset.

The Kuduwave Ultra replaced the Kuduwave Pro TMP.

Identify the degree of hearing loss and find its cause, from the cochlea to the eardrum, in one fluid session. Your workflow gets faster, and your patient gets answers instead of another appointment.

Now that you know it exists, how long can you justify waiting?

The end of “one ear at a time”

Still playing “pass the probe” with your patients?

Test one ear. The awkward pause. The fumbling swap of the probe. Then, finally, the second ear. The whole industry accepted that ritual as normal.

The Ultra has a probe in each ear cup, with speakers and microphones on both sides. It measures tympanometry in both ears at the same time, and ipsilateral and contralateral acoustic reflexes without moving a probe - one clean measurement of middle-ear function, from both ears. No swapping. No pausing. No wasted motion.

Tympanometry, reinvented

Less fiddling, more diagnosing

Instant clarity, zero guesswork

Both tympanograms are drawn at the same time, superimposed on the same axes, in real time. No toggling between screens, no mentally comparing separate graphs.

We automated the annoying parts

Automatic seal checking gets a good fit first time, and assistive test classification handles the busywork while you focus on your patient.

While others swap probes, you’re done

A complete dual pneumatic system captures the full ipsilateral and contralateral reflex battery - automated, semi-automated or manual - with the history stored.

That “difficult” case? Solved faster.

Evaluate Eustachian tube function whether the eardrum is intact or perforated, and overlay, compare and manage multiple tympanograms on one screen.

Kuduwave audiometer benefits

Pilot or autopilot? Yes.

Hands-on, granular control for a tricky diagnosis? Manual mode is your scalpel. A whole department to screen before lunch? Design your own automated protocol, press go, and supervise. We don’t dictate your workflow; we unleash it.

Your clinic is no longer a place

Remote testing, integrated patient management and a secure cloud platform let you supervise a screening at a remote mine from your office in Randburg, consult on a difficult case from across the country, or run a network of mobile testing sites from one place.

Booth-free, explained

What does truly booth-free audiometry mean?

It means the test no longer depends on a sound-treated room. The Kuduwave Pro and Ultra are designed to perform screening and diagnostic pure-tone and speech audiometry - and, on the Ultra, acoustic immittance measurements - outside a sound booth.

Noise blocked at the ear

Insert earphones sit inside sound-attenuating ear cups, so the quiet space is built around the ear instead of around the whole patient.

The room is watched

Microphones monitor the ambient noise throughout the test and warn you when it is too loud for an accurate result.

The evidence is published

The Kuduwave has been validated against sound-booth audiometry in peer-reviewed studies. The results apply within the ambient-noise limits and the populations those studies examined. Read the research.

How quiet is quiet enough? Our white paper on maximum permissible ambient noise levels for the Kuduwave sets out the numbers.

Inside the headset

The innovation inside Kuduwave portable audiometers

GeoAxon software

One interface for testing, records and calibration checks

The free GeoAxon software runs every hearing test, stores and manages your patient records, and checks your Kuduwave’s calibration status - all from a single Windows interface.

About the software

X-Check calibration verification

Proof, not promises

A calibration certificate from last year tells you how the audiometer performed last year. In occupational health, that is a liability.

X-Check is the integrated calibration verification built into every current Kuduwave (standard on units made after March 2018). In 30 seconds, before any session and wherever you are, it gives you a pass or fail on whether your audiometer is still performing as calibrated.

X-Check does not replace regular calibration - it tells you the instrument is still fit to use between calibrations.

Ambi-Dome attenuation

Our headset takes on the room

Ambi-Dome combines physical, passive noise blocking in the ear cups with active noise monitoring during the test. It is the core of every Kuduwave’s booth-free ability.

Your job is to be a practitioner, not a systems integrator: instead of a tablet, an app, third-party headphones and a booth, you get one purpose-built, self-checking instrument.

Speech audiometry

Your voice isn’t a calibrated instrument

The Kuduwave Pro and Ultra come with pre-recorded speech audiometry. Recorded materials give every test item a consistent level, which improves the intrasubject and intersubject precision of threshold and suprathreshold measures - and test-retest reliability - compared with live voice.

Calibration & service

Your reputation is measured in decibels

An audiometer that is out of calibration produces questionable results, audit non-conformities and legal risk. Regular calibration keeps your Kuduwave within the standards your work depends on.

A new era in audiometry

More hope to more people

Kuduwave audiometers are changing the way audiologists and occupational health professionals test hearing around the world.

“GeoAxon has created one of the greatest inventions in audiology. The Kuduwave is undisputably simple, accurate, consistent, and valid, when compared to other forms of manual and automated audiometers. The Kuduwave has saved my clinic a huge sum of dollars that would have gone to soundproofing the audiometry room. I thank you, GeoAxon.”

More success stories

Clinics, mines, schools - and space

From occupational health on a gold mine to audiology at home, Kuduwave headsets go where booths can’t. A modified Kuduwave has even been used aboard the International Space Station by NASA astronauts.

Got questions?

Quick answers

The full list lives in our FAQ section.

Are Kuduwave results as accurate as testing in a sound booth?

The Kuduwave is the subject of several published scientific studies and has been validated against sound-booth audiometry in peer-reviewed studies. Those results hold within the ambient-noise limits and the populations the studies examined, which is why the Kuduwave monitors the room while you test. Read the studies and judge the conditions for yourself.

Is the Kuduwave truly portable?

Yes. It plugs into a laptop with a USB cable and needs no separate power supply or batteries.

Can I test young children with it?

Kuduwave audiometers can be used to test patients aged four years and older. For little sound detectives, a familiar room - maybe even a parent’s lap - and a set of “superhero headphones” is far less intimidating than a silent booth.

Why is it called the Kuduwave?

It is named after the kudu, the South African antelope whose large ears work like natural satellite dishes to pinpoint sound. Nature’s audio engineers, and the inspiration for a South African-designed audiometer.
